Lenstra Jr., On Artin's Conjecture and Euclid's Algorithm in Global Fields, Inventiones Mathematicae, 42 (1977) 201-224, gave a method which dealt with a general class of similar problems. It gets a mention in the book Integer Flows and Cycle Covers of Graphs, Cun-Quan Zhang, Monographs and Textbooks in Pure and Applied Mathematics 205, Marcel Dekker 1997 The eulericity e(G) of a bridgeless graph G is the least number of eulerian subgraphs of G which together cover the edges of G

Another good word game is to find a phrase that is a palindrome. Thus a cog with 10 teeth meshing with one with 50 means the 10-tooth cog will rotate 5 times quicker than the 50-toothed cog (but in the opposite direction)

This process is repeated until either the interval converges to a desired tolerance or a value of f is found that is within an acceptable tolerance, in which case the value of z at this point is the value returned by the program as the root. Furthermore, since being introduced over thirty years ago, the algorithm has had time to be rigorously tested and has successfully proven its quality; as a result, it has gained a wide distribution as evidenced by its incorporation in commercial software products and the posting on the NETLIB website of source code for programs based on the algorithm

Students use a variety of representations (concrete, pictorial, numerical, symbolic, graphical, and verbal), tools, and technology (including, but not limited to, calculators with graphing capabilities, data collection devices, and computers) to solve meaningful problems by representing and transforming figures and analyzing relationships. Students will learn how mathematical topics such as graph theory, planning and scheduling, group decision making, fair division, game theory, and theory of moves can be applied to management and decision making

What is THE way of doing this? I have found several closed form formulas for roots of a cubic function, but all of them use either complex numbers or lots of goniometric functions and I don't like them (and also don't know which one to choose). I need something simple; faster is better; and I know that I will eventually need to solve polynomials of higher order, so having a numerical solver would maybe help too

Amazingly, the sequence for has the recurrence equation (35) where is the number of divisors of and is the characteristic function of the square numbers. For example, for , there are four such polynomials, (31) (32) (33) (34) The following table summarizes the counts of such factorable polynomials for simple and small
