Existing Canon EOS 5D Mark II users may find it takes a little getting used to as it reacts in a similar way to centre-weighted metering and puts greater emphasis on the subject under the active AF point. This is a big improvement on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, which has nine user selectable AF points and six assist points, giving a total of 15.Buying GuideBest DSLR: top cameras by price and brandOf these 61 points, 41 are cross-type and five are dual cross-type points, which is good news for accuracy
Alain Pilon 7 years ago Reply Very good overview from the video guy perspective, I really like the audio section since I dont know much about sound recording. Josh 7 years ago Reply This is a cool article, but your super secret workflow solution is not so secret anymore, eh? Can you set exposure manually in video mode? EOS 5D Mark III compared to other Canon FF DSLRs
A red cell means that a given camera performs below the other two, a green cell means that it performs better than the other two, and a yellow cell means it falls between the other two
And though it seems clear that the D3x's 24.5-megapixel sensor could go to higher ISO settings, the Canon 5D Mark II can go two stops higher and still capture reasonable detail in low light. Many of the other features that debuted on the Canon 50D are included in the 5D Mark II, but one major new feature that probably should have made it into the 50D makes its stand instead in the 5D Mark II: HD video capture
Canon EOS 5D Mark III Review: The Best DSLR for Shooting Video
Depending on the scene, what you need the footage for, and the available lighting, you can easily push the Mark III's ISO as high as 8000 and still come away with footage that's very usable. But there's a new codec option with a compression algorithm that processes and compresses each frame individually, instead of comparing it to neighboring frames, which makes post-processing and editing easier
FM Reviews - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Cons: Kudos to Canon for creating the finest manual focus digital camera ever designed!!! Oh wait--you bought it as an autofocus camera? Well, tough luck. In low light circumstances and when you have to rapidly change AF points to change composition you get lost in the viewfinder trying to find the AF point
The DSLR world is a completely different one, and while I admit I haven't used my pro Panasonic gear as much since Canon got serious about DSLR video, not everyone wants to deal with the DSLR workflow: non-standard video formats, expensive and really short zoom lenses, no power zoom, no XLR jacks, no timecode, no SDI output, few dedicated buttons, etc. Its body design, in many ways, is a hybrid between a DSLR, a palm-sized camcorder, and a Cinema EOS camera, equipped with a built-in 10x lens, flip-out 3.0" LCD touchscreen, and a 90-degree rotatable handgrip
Canon 5D Mark II Review
I'll dial-in -0.7 if I'm shooting colorful things in interesting light with highlight optimization (Highlight Tone Priority) OFF, otherwise, 0.0 usually looks best. Poke in a card that's been shot on Nikon, and the 5D Mark II starts recording into the last Nikon folder, numbering its files just after the last Nikon shot! If the 5D Mark II were smarter, it would create a new folder for itself, and number from wherever it last left off

Which Compact Flash cards for 5D Mark III raw video? - EOSHD
Both cameras are still a long way from the 5D Mark III but the SD card slot on that also suffers from much slower performance than the CF card interface does. Is the 4GB file size a limitation? Thankfully no, with future build of Magic Lantern you can go until the card is full as the 5D Mark III supports the more modern ExFat file system for larger files than 4GB
