If you are receiving this Code 39 error and your CD or DVD drive is missing and has a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager, I hope this information is useful. I uninstalled the drive from Device Manager, rebooted the computer, and the problem remained, so obviously it appeared to be a registry issue that I would have to solve

Then i installed Intel chipset drivers and Intel WiFi chip driver (so i could connect to the net and check for further drivers updates on windows update - it had none). Both are Windows 7 Professional 64-bit English and both are downloaded from MSDNAA, but mine was downloaded few days ago and his 15th august or so (just when it got released)
