Its setup utility controls a variety of important functions, including telling your operating system the order in which devices are to boot up and configuring the settings of your hard drive and memory.Updates to the BIOS that are aimed to fix bugs, tweak boot time or modify other functions are automatically sent to your computer, but you can also modify these settings manually -- to resolve a compatibility issue after a new hardware installation, for example. You can download a PDF of your manual from the Sony website if you no longer have your own copy.Once the Assist button has been engaged, the VAIOCare Rescue Mode screen appears

Thank you, Darwyn Norma said, on September 13th, 2009 at 3:32 pm Hi Joe, My sister has a Sony VGN-NR298D just a little over a year old, right after the warranty ran out, the hardrive crashed. One thing I noticed is that the stock ZIF cable (copperish) is thiner than a generic one (blue ribbon), because I can not insert the generic cable to the stock Toshiba HDD (too tight) but the built-in cable can. I followed all instructions and the place I got stuck on step 3 which is taking out the left hinge, how much power should I use to take it of?(I used reasonable force, but I am afraid if I exceed that I will break it) Is there anything I should specifically push in order to take this cover out? It would be really great if you give me a hint, links for videos or anything to procced to the other steps
