I think the bug may have been instigated while under a potion buff from restoration i unequiped and re-equiped some items with an alchemy perk and noticed that the next potion I could create was much higher, did this again a few times and it wasnt long before I was creating crazy potions.

Enchant clothes to make your alchemy skill better then make a potion to make enchanting skill better, get a new set of clothes, drink potion that ups enchanting and repeat until it reaches the cap
like mjoln, she was my follower, i gave her pretty important things to hold, i was on a mountain and fell down, after that i couldnt find her anymore, sleeping and waiting and fast travelling didnt help so i travelled to riften to find her at her original place. You will make more of a profit if you use rings and necklaces to enchant, but I find that crafting daggers is faster due to the ease of buying the mats. When I got done I had about 60 or so filled soul gems and leveled from enchanting 50 to 100 with the one trip! Do the quest to find 30 crimson ninroots while you're at it and you'll run into all the geode veins

Other then that, as you lvl up, you'll start finding them more and more through raiding the dougens (forgive the spelling please) But I'm' still trying to figure it out how to acquire a lot of them, I remember back in Oblivion, there was a a casket or whatever you would place Grand Soul gems and after one night pass, they'll turn black. (Not exactly sure, and haven't really been paying attention to the date in the game) If so then Illinata's Deep, the old ruin thing by the Lady Stone would be an excellent place to collect them
