Most people are only there for a few days and you have a choice - stay in the valley, which means maying a bit more but enjoying more of Yosemite, or staying outside and driving in. The Lodge is all about location being able to stay in the park and seeing deer outside your room is something special! The breakfast and lunch in the Lodge is canteen which is fine for grabbing something before a hike round the park

I then switched the focus into my hiking boots a bit more, still taking about four steps in between the wooden planks and reaching for the tops of the poles at each plank to steady myself with. At one point the stairs stop, so you have to scramble up the granite face, which at some points is covered in loose, gravely rock (just for extra difficulty), so wear hiking boots

Nature will wow you.This last visit I actually walked in to the visitors center and asked questiones, checked out the two short films that play in the theater. The afternoon clouds part, the sun appears, and the lake has a fantastic reflection of the brown bushes, the green trees, and the white granite masses! Next day, we take the shuttle from the Ahwahnee, past Yosemite Village, the Lodge, Curry Village to Happy Isles, and do the Mist trail, to the top of Vernal Falls
